Tradition since 1880. A history of many years.

Plants for the separation of gases and air have been built in the Saxon town of Wurzen since 1880. Founded by Schütz & Hertel as pioneers in the field of this technology, Maschinenfabrik und Eisengießerei Wurzen (MAFA Wurzen) continued the tradition of many years in 1945 in the GDR with the planning and assembly of air separation plants, carbon dioxide plants and compressors for various gases.

The high technical standard in plant development resulted from intensive research and development, the close connection to universities, industrial institutes and facilities of fundamental research and to the plant operators.

After the political turn-around in East Germany, the tradition of cryogenic plant construction was continued upon foundation of engineering CRYOTEC Energie- und Verfahrenstechnik and passed on into CRYOTEC Anlagenbau GmbH in 1995. The focus has been on innovative solutions for air separation plants and on plants for the generation of technical gases ever since then.

CRYOTEC Anlagenbau GmbH belongs to the EPC Group since 2009 which is a global player in international plant construction. Because of the ideal synergies between EPC Group and CRYOTEC Anlagenbau, the product range could be considerably extended again.
